The action platform game Mega Man Xtreme plays similarly to the Mega Man X games played on non-handheld systems. The player assumes the role of the main character and must complete a number of side-scrolling stages in any order they choose. To defeat enemies in each level, X can run, jump, scale walls, and fire his rechargeable "X-Buster" arm cannon. There are numerous enemies, obstacles, and a boss at the conclusion of each level.
